Den Burg is no ordinary village: it's the beating heart of Texel, where shopping, history and Wadden Sea atmosphere come together.

Largest village on the island: with over 7,000 residents, Den Burg is by far the largest village on Texel, home to about half of all islanders.
Central location: Den Burg sits right in the middle of Texel and can be reached from almost any other village on the island within minutes.
Administrative and economic heart: the town hall of Texel is located here, and it's where both islanders and tourists come to do their shopping.
Atmospheric old centre: the historic town centre combines centuries-old façades with a cosy mix of shops, restaurants and cafés.

Groeneplaats, Weverstraat and the Binnenburg

In Den Burg, shops and eateries are concentrated around the Groeneplaats and the Binnenburg.

Weverstraat: the village's most popular shopping street, full of unique boutiques and specialty shops alongside larger chains.
Groeneplaats: the recently renovated village square, and every Monday morning the setting for a lively market where you can buy local produce and souvenirs.
Groceries: a large supermarket with ample parking makes daily errands easy, and in summer many shops are also open on Sundays.
Eating and drinking: spread across the same area are various restaurants, terraces and cafés serving both international and local dishes — perfect for a bite after shopping.

Open-air swimming pool: Texel's only open-air pool is located in the village and makes for a refreshing family outing in summer.
