Renvogelveld - Nature

The Renvogelveld is located at the northernmost point of Texel, between the Texel Lighthouse and campsite De Robbenjager.
What can you expect at the Renvogelveld?
- Special birdwatching area: The Renvogelveld was named after a rare sighting of a desert wheatear in October 1986. Since then, the area has been developed into a birdwatching hotspot of great importance.
- Wet winters, bird-filled summers: In winter, parts of the grassland are flooded, attracting ducks, gulls, and geese. In summer, you’ll find many meadow birds, and in autumn, mainly thrushes and pipits.
- Cleverly designed nature: The creation of meandering creeks with gentle banks has greatly improved the habitat for birds. Thanks to seepage water, the field often remains wet in winter – ideal for waterfowl.
Birdwatching without disturbing: A walking trail circles the Renvogelveld, featuring two excellent birdwatching points: a bird hide and a viewing post. This allows you to enjoy the rich birdlife in complete tranquillity.- One of Texel’s top spots: The circular walk around the Renvogelveld has become one of Texel’s most popular birdwatching locations – loved by both beginners and experienced birders.
