Birdwatching Point Geulplas - Observation point

On the southern side of Texel, close to Den Hoorn, lies the nature reserve De Geul. In the middle of this green landscape, you’ll find the Geulplas, a large freshwater lake that has become a true bird paradise.

- Breeding ground of spoonbills: The Geulplas is famous for its large colony of spoonbills that breed here in spring and summer. It’s one of the largest breeding colonies in the Netherlands.
- Bird-rich area: Besides spoonbills, you can also spot cormorants, lesser black-backed gulls, common terns, and many other species. In autumn, the lake is a popular resting place for migrating birds.
