De Dennen - Nature

De Dennen, also known as the Texel Forest, is a beautiful nature reserve on the western side of Texel. The area was planted between 1898 and 1921 for timber production but is now a popular recreational destination.

- Exploring with your dog: Dogs are welcome – on many trails they may run off-lead, as long as the nature is kept clean.
- Rich nature and wildlife: The forest is home to squirrels, woodpeckers, rabbits, and countless birds. Staatsbosbeheer manages the forest as naturally as possible, allowing dead wood, shrubs, and new growth to create a lively ecosystem.

- Access: The area is freely accessible;
- Parking: You can park at Turfveld or near the Fonteinsnol lookout tower.
