Every summer, the harbour of Oudeschild comes alive during the annual HavenVIStijn. A Saturday in August is dedicated to fishing, music, and good vibes. Will you come and try some fresh fish?

What can you expect during HavenVIStijn?

• Get to know the Fisherman’s Life: Discover the world of fishing through demonstrations by fishermen, explanations of fishing techniques, and information about different fish species.
• Sail with the KNRM: Experience a unique adventure by sailing a bit with the rescue boat of the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM).
• Taste Fresh Fish: Enjoy delicious smoked and fried fish, freshly prepared by the fishermen themselves. Or try a shrimp sandwich from the shrimp fleet. Oysters and other seafood are also readily available.
• Live Music and Atmosphere: Enjoy performances from the Oudeschilder Fishermen's Choir and other musical acts, creating a lively atmosphere in the harbour.
• Activities for Children: There’s plenty for the little ones to do, from games to interactive activities about fishing, there’s lots to discover and experience.
• Traditional and Modern Fishing Techniques: Admire both traditional fishing methods and modern innovations, such as the Simwin, a sustainable alternative to the beam trawl, developed in Oudeschild.
