Wadden Bird Festival 2025

The annual Wadden Bird Festival on Texel is the ultimate event for nature lovers and birdwatchers! Organised by the Bird Information Centre and National Park Dunes of Texel, this festival takes place every year on the second weekend of May and is entirely dedicated to birdwatching for a good cause.

What can you expect at the Wadden Bird Festival?

• Birdfair in De Cocksdorp: On Saturday, you can visit a special nature and birdwatching market, featuring stands full of bird books, optical equipment, and nature products.
• Texel Big Day: Teams of birdwatchers compete for 24 hours to spot as many bird species as possible while raising money for a good cause.
• Birding Excursions: Throughout the weekend, you can join various excursions led by experienced bird guides to discover Texel's unique bird species.

  Why in May? – During this period, winter birds are still migrating north, while summer birds have already returned. Many birds are singing and easy to spot, making the variety of species exceptionally high.

• Birdwatching Points: At various locations on the island, volunteers are available to assist visitors in spotting birds and providing information about the species seen.
