The small town of De Waal nestles at the heart of Texel Island, surrounded by picturesque meadows and within easy reach of the coast. Here you will find a treasure: our welcoming family home, Bed and Breakfast and Cookery Course venue. We are your hosts Anet van de Elzen and Wessel Holleman, an artist and professional chef, with our children Lena and Finn.
Pastorie De Waal is a recently restored and historic rectory, dating from 1680, where we offer one double bedroom, with a beautiful view, ensuite bathroom and shower, personally tailored breakfast and the deeply relaxing comfort of a royal COCO-MAT all natural bed (180 bij 210 cm). (A second COCO-MAT bedbox is available for children up to 12 years of age.)
From the bedroom and dining room you will enjoy gentle views stretching across our garden and surrounding meadows to ‘de Hoge Berg’. Breakfast is served downstairs between 7am and 10am. It includes Texel cheeses and ham, Viennoiserie, home made breads and jams and of course fresh coffee and a range of teas, fresh fruit and juice. Special dietary needs and allergies are always happily accommodated. Car parking, a terrace and bikes are free at your disposal. Nature reserves, beaches and woodlands, together with the small city of Den Burg are all within easy walking or cycling distance and even in the high-season we remain a quiet place with privacy, space and fresh air from which you can set out refreshed to explore Texel island.
